Overview

Veterinary and medical importance of ticks is mainly determined by their capability of disease transmission.
The following diseases have been reported to be transmitted by ticks:

  • Lyme borreliosis, Borrelia burgdorferi s.l.
  • Canine babesiosis, Babesia spp.
  • Ehrlichiosis, Ehrlichia spp.
  • Anaplasmosis, Anaplasma spp.
  • Hepatozoonosis, Hepatozoon spp.
