Triatomine- and Fly-Borne Diseases

Summarized in this chapter are further diseases which are transmitted by triatomines, tabanids, tsetse flies, stable flies and non-biting secretophagous flies. Besides the fact that some of these insects can be significant pests themselves, sometimes causing direct economic losses in livestock due to their biting behaviour, they are all able to transmit important, in times even life threatening pathogens. These can possess zoonotic character.
